Fees
Fees for the Satzuma Program are $90.00 per 1 hour session (50 minutes face to face, or on Skype, and 10 minutes for progress notes). Our program is not currently covered by Medicare, so we only charge you the out of pocket expense (“the gap”) after a Medicare rebate.
We only charge you the "gap"
Payments
Payment is required at the end of each session by credit card.
If you need to cancel an appointment please let us know as soon as possible. We would never charge you for a canceled appointment.
Prescription for Naltrexone
You will need a prescription from your GP for Naltrexone before trying TSM, but we will help you through the process and will provide you with a brochure with a description of TSM as well as a list of things to discuss with your GP before you start. Your GP must make sure that Naltrexone can be safely prescribed to you and might ask you to get a Liver Function Test before prescribing.
More and more doctors in Australia are becoming aware of TSM, but not all GPs know about it and they might ask you why you want a prescription for Naltrexone. With the help of our info sheet, you can more easily explain it to your GP. Make sure that your GP remembers to specify on the script that Naltrexone is for the treatment of alcohol dependence. Naltrexone is ONLY on the the PBS for alcohol dependence treatment. Otherwise your pharmacist will charge you the full amount without the PBS rebate. It is a lot more expensive when dispensed without PBS rebate!
Finally, we are always happy to talk to your GP on your behalf. You will need to sign our Release of Information form if you want us to share information with your GP or any other agency or professional. Usually, the only person we need to be able to talk to is your GP.
In any case, we’ll discuss this with you at our first session.
If you have questions, don’t hesitate to send us an email and we will reply shortly.
